Deepenings are gatherings with a somewhat scholarly focus, in which Bahá'ís meet to study and analyze a specific document. The Kingston Bahá'í community generally holds a deepening on each major message published by the Universal House of Justice, as well as occasional deepenings on topics of particular interest to the community.

Deepenings generally have, as a prerequisite to understanding the discussion, a basic understanding of (and belief in) Bahá'í theology and governance.
